'MacGyver - The Complete Sixth Season'
(Richard Dean Anderson, Dana Elcar, et al / 6-Disc DVD / NR / (1985) 2006 / Paramount)

Overview: Angus Macgyver is a secret agent with a difference. He is quiet, mild mannered, deeply principled and refuses to carry a gun on his missions. Fortunately, the last detail is unimportant when compared to his astounding mind. Drawing on a vast practical knowledge of science, Macgyver is able to make use of any mundane materials around him to create unorthodox solutions to any problem he faces. The enemies of world peace and justice continually learn that underestimating this man is a fatal mistake for their plans.

DVD Verdict: By year's end, we should have the entire 'MacGyver' series complete in DVD format, which is amazing considering how slowly other classic shows roll out (often only a season per year). By this point, the show had moved beyond my favorite era, but that doesn't make the show less entertaining. There's a lot of great episodes in season 6, with a special highlight being Pete's glaucoma episodes (and the real-life struggle of the late Dana Elcar that made that storyline so poignant). I want to echo other people's views that I've spoken with here that we are all hoping that season 7 is padded out with the MacGyver TV movies. They really were the capstones for the series, which didn't end it's normal run in a way that I found entirely satisfying. The set wouldn't feel complete without them, in my opinion! And even though Season 6 had some of the best episodes in the entire series, MacGyver had began to reach it's peak. Some of the scenes of MacGyver started to become very obvious and cliched. But despite all of that, MacGyver stayed true to it's format. This is a Full Screen Presentation (1.33:1) and comes with the Special Features of all 22 episodes from the 1990-91 season on six discs.
