'The Flying Nun: The Complete Second Season'
(Sally Field, Marge Redmond, et al / 3-Disc DVD / NR / (1967) 2006 / Sony Pictures)

Overview: Sally Field's sheer charm and adorable-ness shine in the second season of 'The Flying Nun.' In fact Field, and the rest of the stellar cast, throw themselves so heartily into the story that you almost forget the show's premise is wafer thin, not to mention slightly preposterous - that Field's petite Sister Bertrille is so light, and her Puerto Rican nun habit so aerodynamic, that she becomes airborne on her duties around San Juan. The second-season boxed set contains all 26 episodes, and they're greatly entertaining, as well as a sweet window into the America of the mid- to late-'60s.

DVD Verdict: I was very excited that they put out season two of 'The Flying Nun.' So many older TV shows only have "The Best Of" or only the first season, ignoring the the second third and so on years. It usually takes a first season to fully establish and develop the charactors and situations so the general public can really get the feeling of the whole "lives' of what these people are about and really get into the show. 'The Flying Nun' is a very enjoyable fantasy '60s TV show to watch. I haven't seen season two since I was a teenager, but watching these episodes for review purposes was like one the biggest flashback's I'd ever encountered! Wow, did the memories of my childhood come flashing back! Much like season one, spunky free spirited Sister Bertrille is always the humanitarian who is trying to do the good for the poor people of SanTanco - but somehow always getting herself into trouble! Sister Jaqueline and Sixto were her supporters and tried to protect her when the Reverand Mother got so exasperated and beside herself with Bertilles latest antics. The handsome playboy Carlos Rameriz who admired her from afar was always bailing her out when she was over her head in the next tangled mess she got herself into. And trust me, they still seem to bump into each other accidently or not with alarming frequency! I hope they bring out season 3 soon. It would also be fun if they made a movie of it to for the big screen. They could get away now with a lot more then they did back then. These are Full Screen presentations (1.33:1), has all the 26 second season episodes on 3 discs, and comes the Special Features of Spanish and Portuguese Subtitles.
