'Motives 2 - Retribution'
(Brian White, Vivica A. Fox, et al / DVD / R / 2007 / Sony Pictures)

Overview: It's been three years since Emery Simms was wrongfully imprisoned for a murder he didn't commit. Emery's best friend Brandon (Blakemore) and ex-wife Connie (Fox) are now married, running a successful restaurant and nightclub in Atlanta. Their lives change dramatically, however, when Simms is killed in prison and new evidence emerges as to Brandon's role in the framing of his friend.

DVD Verdict: Brian White (Stomp The Yrd), Sean Blakemore (Motives), Drew Sidora (Step Up), and Vivica A. Fox (Kill Bill: Vol. 1), all star in this suspenseful follow-up to the erotic thriller 'Motives.' Three long years since Emery Simms (a once highly educated and successful business tycoon) was wrongly imprisoned for a murder he didn't commit, he is killed in prison and new evidence emerges as to Brandon's role in the framing of his friend. So, when Emery's estranged brother Donovan (White) enters the picture, he becomes determined to unearth the explosive truth behind his brother's downfall. New motives, deceptions and lies are revealed, but the closer Donovan gets, the deeper he'll get himself into trouble and the possibility of lying in a grave, right next to his brother. I can't say that this is run-of-the-mill, albeit it very controlled of a script, but what I can say is that it is acted superbly by all concerned.

Of course, the immensely talented and beautiful Vivica Fox always does a great job; she and Blakemore have some chemistry, but Vivica outshines him and seemed to be a bit too much woman for him - as she did in the first movie alongside Shemar Moore. Brian White and indeed Blakemore give their best performances in the film, but overall, the film has plenty of beautiful people, and was very decent; though not a great film, I could have done without all the graphic sex scenes! I'm not giving the ending here but it will keep you drawn in to the very end. I highly recommend that you got a little time to kill and nothing to do with the significant other then put this on and call it an evening. You will not be disapointed.
