DVD Verdict: Since introducing their ground-breaking Nu Metal sound to the burgeoning rap-metal scene in the late Nineties, Limp Bizkit have sold over 33 million albums around the world. The groups charismatic front man, Fred Durst, has courted controversy over the years, both on and off-stage, where he has engaged in a series of high profile physical and verbal feuds with various contemporary stars of the rap scene such as Eminem.
Here on 'Limp Bizkit: Rock im Park 2001' the band perform at Germany's biggest and most prestigious rock event in Nuremberg, the famous Rock In The Park Festival in June of 2001. Recorded at what might be told as the pure height of their popularity, the recording of the the band is very tight. There's not much in the way of stop-n-go filming, or on-the-run camera wok so there's not much to get dizzy about!
The set starts off with "Hot Dog" and blasts into "Show Me What You Got" pretty quickly thereafter. After doing "Break Stuff," Durst brings up a girl on stage and proceeds to bunce into "The One." By that point Bizkit are in their groove as best as any band could be. All the hits are brought to the fore - Livin' It Up, My Generation, Re-Arranged, Faith, Full Nelson, My Way, Nookie, I Would For You, etc. - and the audience is beyond frantic that their musical icons are within touching distance!
