'Transformers Animated: Transform and Roll Out'
(Animation / DVD / NR / 2008 / Paramount)

Overview: A ragtag group of AUTOBOTS led by OPTIMUS PRIME are in a remote sector of CYBERTRON cleaning space bridges when they stumble upon the most import artifact in TRANSFORMERS history; the ALLSPARK! The DECEPTICONS who are only scary myths for many AUTOBOTS are in hot pursuit of the ALLSPARK; now this new band of AUTOBOTS must fight for their lives and the future of CYBERTRON.

DVD Verdict: When Cartoon Network premiered this 90-minute feature presentation of "Transformers Animated: Transform and Roll Out" the night after Christmas it brought in an amazing viewership. Why then it's taken so long to come to DVD is anyone's guess. Anyway, the adventure begins when Optimus Prime and his small crew of Autobots come into possession of the Allspark (remember the movie last summer?), a powerful Cybertronian artifact that attracts the attention of their long-forgotten enemies, the Decepticons, and sends them crashing to a strange and distant planet known as Earth.

Kids and adults will definitely enjoy the action of this new version of Transformers. I enjoyed the humor and the animation style. Some of the continuity and characters have been messed with, but if you're not married to the old series, you should get a kick out of this Transformers special!

And as this "Transformers Animated: Transform and Roll Out" was actually a 90-minute special that kicked off the brand new series, 'Transformers Animated' that premiered on Cartoon Network at the start of last January, just know that they might stil be running the series as we speak ... so go check 'em out, dear boy! This is a Full Screen Presentation (1.33:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Special Features of:

2 Transformers Animated Shorts!
