'Grey's Anatomy: The Complete Sixth Season'
(Ellen Pompeo, Sandra Oh, Katherine Heigl, Justin Chambers, Chandra Wilson, et al / 6-Disc DVD / NR / 2010 / ABC Studios)

Overview: This award-winning medical drama heats up in a season where the hottest doctors on TV face some of the most important moments in their lives. The Mercy West/Seattle Grace merger creates more competition, more doctors, and more drama.

DVD Verdict: Can you believe that the medical drama 'Grey's Anatomy' had its pilot episode, "A Hard Day's Night" premiere back in March of 2005 on ABC?! I know, crazy long time ago, right!!

Since then, this fantastic television series, in which we watch the lives of interns, residents and their mentors (in the fictional Seattle Grace-Mercy West Hospital in Seattle, Washington) unfold (and collapse, in some cases!) before our very eyes, week in week out.

In season six of 'Grey's Anatomy,' and while most episodes followed the same ensemble principle that were present in the first five years, certain episodes focused on one character in particular - such as Derek ("Give Peace A Chance"), Arizona ("Invest In Love"), Owen ("Suicide Is Painless") and Alex ("Sympathy For The Parents").

Indeed, the sixth season also introduced several new residents joining the Seattle Grace Hospital staff - because of the merger with Mercy West Hospital. Those residents included Nora Zehetner's Dr. Reed Adamson, Jesse Williams' Dr. Jackson Avery, whose grandfather is the famous Harper Avery, Robert Baker's Dr. Charles Percy, who is hated on by almost everyone and Sarah Drew's Dr. April Kepner ... who is fired in episode six and rehired in episode thirteen!

The lovely Kim Raver also joined the cast as Dr. Teddy Altman, a cardiothoracic surgeon and Iraqi-war veteran who served with Dr. Owen Hunt. Thankfully, as I truly do have a soft spot for her, she became a series regular.

As we all know by now, the 12th episode of this season saw our beloved Katherine Heigl make her last appearance in the show. And, as for the finale, well, yes, it's true - a certain pop star did guest star!

Oh, did you know that the title 'Grey's Anatomy' was devised as an amalgam of Henry Gray's medical textbook, Gray's Anatomy, and the name of lead character Meredith Grey? Or that the show's title was nearly changed to 'Complications'?! This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Special Features of:
