'NFL: The Complete History of the New York Giants'
(New York Giants / 2-Disc DVD / NR / 2012 / NFL Productions)

Overview: Since 1925, the New York Giants have been the standard bearers for the National Football League. Their record speaks for itself: 22 division titles and six world championships including four Super Bowl victories. Now, this big blue legacy is yours to own in this thrilling two-disc set. The Complete History of the New York Giants captures all of the great moments in Giants history including their upset victories over New England Patriots in Super Bowls XLII and XLVI.

DVD Verdict: Now, in truth I'm not a huge Giants fan. But, as others in this office are we brought the DVD in for en mass review style! Some others here also already had the 2004 version of this. So, we quickly discovered that all this new version does is add @ 20 minutes more fotage to the main program.

Obviously "updating" the package through the 2011 season and two subsequent Super Bowl triumphs, surely they could have added more than just 20 minutes more action, let alone trophy lifting?!

Anyway, and having said that though, if you never purchased the 2004 one I recommend getting this new one. It's a fine storytelling of their history, and that's something coming from a non-Giants fan! On this new version, they made a terrific choice in putting the 2007 NFC Championship "NFL Greatest Games" program on the 2nd disc. Indeed, on the 1st disc the one extra content (other than the extended main program) is the 1981 NFL Game Of The Week re: the Dallas OT game from Week 16 that put the Giants into the play-offs for the first time in 18 years.

Again, a wise selection although the original program was a combined one with the Packers-Jets game from the next day because as serious Big Blue fans remember, the Giants needed the Jets to win also in order to qualify for post-season. Indeed, the Jets needed the game for themselves to get in also so it was a wild weekend! They cut out the Jets game part after the Giants footage, too bad, they should've left it in.

The other extra content is very good also. So to summarize, a good history, but they should've put some effort in updating rather than just patching in 20 minutes from other programming already seen. They just threw this together because Giants won another Super Bowl last year. Even the packaging is substandard to the prior version. However, as previously stated, if you don't have the 2004 one, this is still recommended. This a Full Screen Presentation (1.33:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.
