'Touched By an Angel: The Sixth Season'
(Roma Downey, Della Reese, John Dye, et al / 7-Disc DVD / NR / 2012 / Paramount Pictures)
Overview: A trio of angels Monica (Roma Downey), Tess (Della Reese), and Andrew (John Dye) are dispatched from heaven with a special mission: to inspire people facing sometimes unseen crossroads in their lives. Season Six of this uplifting, inspiring TV show is now here!
DVD Verdict: 'Touched By an Angel' began in 1994 and ran through to 2003 and tells the inspiring, heartwarming story of Monica, Tess, and Andrew; a trio of Angels sent to earth to tell depressed and troubled people that God loves them and God hasn't forgotten them.
Here in Season Six, which features some of the best episodes of the serious, in my humble opinion, heavenly caseworker Monica (Downey) is still persisting in her earthly mission to rescue and redeem lost souls in order to facilitate their entry into paradise. And, of course, she is abley assisted by her warm-hearted, but no-nonsense supervisor Tess (Reese). And, of course, whenever they are caught between a rock and a hard place, they are both aided by Andrew (Dye), the always humble, always polite compassionate Angel of Death!
Not to go through each and every episode, but some notable ones are the season opener SUCH A TIME AS THIS, where a US Senator is asked to publicly acknowledge the rumored existance of slavery in Sudan - but fears it will be detrimental to her electoral hopes. In TILL DEATH DO US PART, Andrew believes he has been assigned to help a woman facing a possible cancer diagnosis, but discovers (at a terrible cost) that it was her husband who had needed his attention. In THE CHRISTMAS GIFT, the angels come to the aid of a widowed mother and her daughter, to help them come to terms with their recent tragedy.
In THE PERFECT GAME, the angels visit a bowling alley, where they attempt to rekindle a broken relationship, urge a soon-to-be-married couple to settle their differences, and learn you always get a second chance in life. In BAR MITZVAH, an agnostic man refuses to attend his grandson's bar mitzvah, and in MONICA'S BAD DAY, Monica's loss of temper has serious repercussions for a group of innocent strangers. In the season finale, PANDORA'S BOX, fun on the Internet has dangerous consequences for a girl.
