'The Legend of the Psychotic Forest Ranger'
(Michael G MacDonald, Samuel MacDonald LeMoine, Colleen MacIsaac, et al / DVD / NR / 2014 / Gaiam)

Overview: After taking a wrong turn down an abandoned road, a group of teenagers run out of gas and find themselves stranded in the middle of the woods. What a total drag. What was that noise? Why is everyone vanishing? Is it a practical joke or could the Legend be true? Your compass won t save you in these woods.

DVD Verdict: Ha! Like every 80's horror flick (as this truly is what it was designed to represent), this movie contains a lot of sexual innuendo, bad language, a lot of drinking, scenes of violence and gore, and much, much more!

But, instead of baulking from such content embrace it, trust me. For these are exactly all the elements that make 'The Legend of the Psychotic Forest Ranger' such a cool film. It totally plays like an 80's B-movie horror movie, with all the gags, jokes, bad acting combined with the endless amount of comedic kills!

Even the costumes and make-up resemble the 80's lower budget horror films. Fortunately, as I have only to imagine (and pray) this was all intended by the writers and the crew, as it clearly shows within the film.

Coming complete with a creepy soundtrack also, plus a rather cool stylized intro montage, and filmed to resemble the old equipment, this film is a ride and feels like it was worth much more than the budget spent.

So, anyone who was a fan of cult classics such as 'Evil Dead,' 'Psycho Cop,' and even 'Maniac Cop,' etc. should fall in love with this film immediately. I know I did! This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.77:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.
