'Addicted'
(Sharon Leal, Boris Kodjoe, Garrett Hines, Brandon Gonzales, William Levy, et al / DVD / R / 2015 / Lionsgate)

Overview: A gallerist risks her family and flourishing career when she enters into an affair with a talented painter and slowly loses control of her life.

DVD Verdict: OK, based on the bestseller by Zane, and not to give away any spoilers, basically the main character is addicted to sex! So you would think that there would be a whole lot of exposition, especially with the back drop being dialogue between the main character and a therapist. But okay, let's say you haven't read the book, or it's been a while since you have. There's so much missing as to why this woman has an addiction to sex: Why does she cheat? Why should we care that she cheats?

She's painted as this spoiled and deprived woman who you don't feel sorry for - when, in the book, there's actually a lot that went on in her past that affects her present There's no examination of the main character and the relationships she has.

Anyway, 'Addicted' is around an hour and 45 minutes long and I could seriously have maybe dealt with the other stuff that wasn't included if there was a portion devoted to her past and not the two and half second flashback AND one (1) sentence, literally, at the end of the movie where we're just supposed to go, "Oh, it all makes sense now"!

Regardless, and to give it it's due, 'Addicted' is erotic fiction and for that alone it keeps you on the edge of your seat - because you want to find out what happened next. I couldn't press pause at any stage, so that's a good thing right there. The film shows some softcore sex scenes, some violence, and then it kinda skips and jumps around, so be aware - if you have wee ones lurking in the house! This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Special Features of:
Getting Intimate with Zane Featurette
Filming Addicted with the Hottest Men on the Planet Featurette
Deleted Scenes
