'The Magic School Bus: Season Three'
(2-Disc DVD / NR / 2015 / Scholastic + Cinedigm)

Overview: Seatbelts everyone! Ride The Magic School Bus all the way through the Complete Third Season!

DVD Verdict: For four fact filled seasons from 1994 to 1998, 'The Magic School Bus' paved the way for kids to believe that science was cool. As the television landscape continues to devolve, it's refreshing to see the Bus resurface in this Complete Series collection.

Charming and educational, this animated delight is comprised of 52 thirty minute episodes. Ms. Frizzle (voiced by the distinctive and invaluable Lily Tomlin) takes her class of enthusiastic students on trips filled with fantasy and wonder. Astronomy, biology, geology, physics, chemistry, paleontology, and just about every other "ology" gets a visit or two through the course of the various field trips.

However, if you're shopping "The Magic School Bus: The Complete Season Three," you probably want to know what is included with your investment. Trust me when I say that this is a highly entertaining science series. This show has the highest artistic production values. It is as entertaining as any children's show. But unlike any other children's show, it actually imparts solid correct scientific information. Any child who has an interest in how the world really works will love this series.

My children and their friends are delighted with these shows. They ask me to get more. I am a professional scientist, who has 25 years experience. I watch them looking for "dumbing down" or for factual mistakes. I have never seen either. This is the series to get to start your child on their way to understanding the world about them.

This show isn't on TV anymore, but I wish it were. It was entertaining as well as educational and there aren't many shows like that anymore. Lily Tomlin supplies the voice of Miss Frizzle, as noted above and the fact that Scholastic has brought out this brand new Third Season on DVD is a joy to behold - for both myself and my kids.
