'Power Rangers Super Megaforce: Legendary Battle'
(Andrew Gray, John Mark Loudermilk, Ciara Hanna, Azim Rizk, Christina Masterson, et al / DVD / NR / 2015 / LGF)

Overview: Emperor Mavro and what remains of his fleet fought relentlessly against the Power Rangers, who are weakened and have lost their Zords. In a final burst of heroism, they enter the final battle. Unexpectedly, at this moment every Power Ranger generation in existence arrives to assist them in battle. Through their combined efforts, they are able to destroy the Emperor and his fleet to once again save the Earth.

DVD Verdict: I have to fully admit that I've been awaiting this Extended Edition movie adventure on DVD for rather a long time now! The franchise, in general, is mostly about frenzied kick action, preposterous moments and general nonsense. But 'Power Rangers Super Megaforce: Legendary Battle' changed all that thanks to polished effects, costumes, fights, acting, and most importantly writing.

The writing takes the cake as it implements a lesson/theme into each episode while simultaneously giving character development with an actual plot of how a small group of teenagers need to defend Earth from evil aliens (thanks to the costumes the villains are definitely menacing rather than ridiculous).

My favorites are the Red Ranger Troy (disciplined, serious, yet caring and knows that everyone has weakness) and the Pink Ranger Emma (one who deeply cares about the world around it and knows that there is always a way for everyone to work together). 'Power Rangers Super Megaforce: Legendary Battle' is actually the last two (2) episodes of Power Rangers Super Megaforce, which was the Legendary Battle, of course. The final episode is the extended version which is roughly 10-minutes longer than the original TV broadcast and I certainly recommend the extended version - just to see the actual way that Emperor Mavro was defeated! This video itself is roughly 55 minutes and does complete the Super Megaforce collection.

All in all this is one that both fans and perhaps non-fans (including reluctant parents!) can enjoy, ranking along the veins of the underrated Lightspeed Rescue. So come one, one and all, and dive into the epic battle as the Rangers fight against a massive alien Armada and discover legendary new special abilities at the same time! This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.78:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Special Feature of:

"Power Rangers: A Legacy" Featurette
