'Camilla Dickinson'
(Cary Elwes, Samantha Mathis, Adelaide Clemens, Gregg Sulkin, et al / DVD / NR / (2012) 2015 / Cinedigm)

Overview: Fifteen-year-old Camilla Dickinson (Clemens), leads a sheltered life in New York City until her parents' marriage begins to fall apart. When Camilla meets her best friend's rebellious brother Frank (Sulkin) she finds a way to escape her troubles.

DVD Verdict: 'Camilla Dickinson,' the film, is the first Madeleine L'Engle film to actually stay true to her unorthodox spirituality. Meaning, that all of the deep philosophical and ethical questions were preserved, and Madeleine L'Engle's long frustration with legalism remained untouched/the endless battle of seeking beauty in the mystery of an overwhelming/paradoxical universe is something I find very rich.

These moments shone with brilliance, when so many films refuse to tackle these same questions with the same depth that only a Madeleine L'Engle story can have.

Personally, I was very impressed by the range of emotions displayed by the young actors in this movie, especially Adelaide Clemens(Emily Dickinson), Gregg Sulkin (Frank Rowan), and Colby Minifie (Luisa Rowan). I laughed, I cried and I thoroughly enjoyed 'Camilla Dickinson'. Kudos also goes to Cornelia Moore for directing such a fine cast of young actors and a few old pros, some whom you might recognize.

This movie will tug at you heart strings as it tell the story of pure young love. I recommend this movie to everyone who enjoys period coming of age movies in the style of the 40's and 50's. This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Special Features of:
