'Celtic Thunder - Legacy: Volume One' [DVD+CD]
(Celtic Thunder / DVD+CD / NR / 2016 / Legacy Recordings)

Overview: 'Legacy' is Celtic Thunder's latest stage production documented for DVD, Blu-ray, CD and vinyl release. 'Legacy' (the show) is produced by Sharon Browne while the album is produced by David Munro. The show presents many of the best-loved numbers from the group's nine standing-room-only world tours to-date.

DVD + CD Verdict: In truth, I have loved everything Celtic Thunder have ever brought out. Their style, their musical influences, their Celtic way of bringing history back into our lives is incredible and they continually show us, recording after recording, who proficient they are at new albums.

This show was filmed during Celtic Thunder's 2015 American tour, The Very Best of Celtic Thunder. The show was renamed Legacy for the DVD and CD products, presumably because they had already released a CD of studio-recorded group songs (not the same songs sung during the show) titled The Very Best of Celtic Thunder.

The complete DVD track listing is as follows:
'Heartland' (Group)
'Danny Boy' (Emmett)
'The Galway Girl' (Group)
'Mountains of Mourne' (Keith)
'Ride On' (Ryan)
'Buchaille On Eirne/Come By The Hills' (Damian)
'Raggle Taggle Gypsy' (Group)
'Black Velvet Band' (Colm)
'The Dutchman' (Keith)
'Falling Slowly' (Damian)
'A Place in the Choir' (Group)
'Noreen' (Neil)
'Caledonia' (Group)
'Cal Local Hero' (Group)
'Ireland's Call' (Group)

Overall, this is another quality Celtic Thunder concert, as well you would/should expect. Everything stands out in crystal clear quality and so, for my money, this is their best home release DVD/Blu Ray to date. This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.

In much the same vein as the DVD, the CD also follows along the same lines of musical greatness. Something I negated to mention above, please forgive me, is that the only difference between these recordings and other Celtic Thunder ones is that a new voice is there in place of an old one. Sadly, Phil Coulter is gone. His successor, David Munro, on paper seems to be well qualified, and proved it rather nicely live, for sure. But he will never be the beloved Phil, sorry. That said, his voice is definitely suited to the whole magnificent instrument called Celtic Thunder, so that at least is a Blessing.

The complete CD track listing is a wee bit different from the DVD and is as follows:
'Heartland' (Group)
'Falling Slowly' (Damian)
'The Dutchman' (Keith)
'Black Velvet Band' (Colm)
'Caledonia' (Group)
'Ride On' (Ryan)
'Buchaille On Eirne/Come By The Hills' (Damian)
'Noreen' (Neil)
'The Galway Girl' (Group)
'A Place in the Choir' (Group)
'Mountains of Mourne' (Keith)
'Danny Boy' (Emmett)
'Cal Local Hero' (Group)
'Ireland's Call' (Group)
