'LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Justice League: GSB'
(Troy Baker, Eric Bauza, Greg Cipes, John DiMaggio, Will Freidle, et al / Blu-Ray+DVD / NR / 2016 / Warner Bros.)

Overview: Batman faces his greatest challenge yet: VACATION! The caped crusader reluctantly agrees to let Batgirl and Nightwing take him on a long overdue vacation from crimefighting, while Superman and the Justice League watch over Gotham City. Neither operation goes as planned when Batman's vacation is cut short by dangers from his past and invaders from the center of the earth, and Superman and the other Leaguers quickly realize just how much Batman usually has his hands full with the villains of Gotham.

Blu-Ray Verdict: With over an hour of crime fighting and fun both my grandson and nephew were in Lego heaven. They both loved the Lego Nexo Knights and were ecstatic to watch another great action packed movie featuring one of their favorite toys, LEGOS! As they watched and fought crime right along with this Blu-ray they were super heroes in their minds.

After all, how could they not be immersed - it is from one of the best sources of home entertainment, Warner Brothers (WBHE). The music and choreography is everything that we expected it to be. If you have a little one that is a fan of Lego's or any of the many DC Comic characters that make an appearance in this DVD this is a must have for your collection.

As a reluctant Batman allows himself to be taken on a birthday vacation by Batgirl and Nightwing, temporary guardianship of Gotham City falls to Superman, who quickly discovers that—just as Batman warned him—the Caped Crusader's home town is no Metropolis. In this version of the DC Universe, the Man of Steel is stalwart but none too bright, and he is quickly tricked by the Joker into freeing the entire population of Arkham Asylum. Even with the assistance of Cyborg and Wonder Woman, Superman is outmatched. It will take the full force of the Justice League (plus Robin, after he finishes his school homework) to put Gotham back together again.

Meanwhile, Batgirl and Nightwing are attempting to reunite the Caped Crusader with his mentor, Madame Mantis, but find that they have been lured into a trap by Deathstroke and Bane, who have imprisoned Madame Mantis and enslaved the benevolent race she has been protecting, known as "Trogowogs". As is usually the case with fictional heroes, Batman's "vacation" becomes a working one.

With its martial arts and a legendary "Forbbiden Move", the Madame Mantis story seems designed to echo Kill Bill and its antecedents, but most of Gotham City Breakout's story relies on DCU shorthand as it sends toy characters scurrying hither and yon like hyperkinetic ants.

The film's single best element (at least for the adult audience) is its conception of Batman as a super-serious straight arrow in the style of Adam West's portrayal in the classic TV series. Especially after enduring three films' worth of Christian Bale's dour portrayal, this Dark Knight is a hoot! This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.78:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Limited Edition Exclusive Nightwing LEGO Minifigure.
