'The Adventures of Panda Warrior' [DVD + Digital]
(Rob Schneider, Lauren Elizabeth, Norm McDonald, Haylie Duff, Tom Kenny, et al / DVD / PG / 2016 / LGF)
Overview: When Patrick (Schneider), a peaceful soldier from ancient China, is magically transported to Merryland and turned into a Panda, he must join forces with Peggy the flying pig (Elizabeth), GoGo the daring goat (Duff), and King Leo the courageous lion (MacDonald) in order to free the once-peaceful world from the tyranny of the evil nine-headed snake that has enslaved them.
DVD Verdict: It has to be said that whether or not you like the "big screen" 'Kung Fu Panda' movie series or not, you will most definitely still get a BIG kick (no pun intended!) out of this small screen panda who also knows Kung Fu!
Patrick is an everyman soldier in the army of ancient China, but he believes that everyone should find a different way to get along, instead of fighting with swords and arrows. The soldiers are attacked, and Patrick starts to run because he is being chased by a very large bull. He falls and finds himself transported to a new world - one that both amazes him and yet frightens him at the same time.
You see, Patrick has been transformed into a panda (as you do!), and with his warrior gear on, others assume he is the Panda Warrior, who has returned to save them from the nine-headed evil snake that has taken over the land and kidnapped their princess. Because of the dragon necklace he wears, which his grandfather gave him, his new friends take him to King Leo to prove he is the warrior panda they all have been expecting in Merryland.
It turns out that Patrick’s grandfather had told him SO much about a place, a Dynasty such as the one he now finds himself within, and so, well, Patrick considers the fact that it might just be possible that he IS the Panda Warrior they have been looking for after all!
Chock full of fun, hope, and most importantly for all the kids out there following along with it at home, this fantasy animated story provides en masse of valuable life lessons. Such as everyone needs hope and faith to overcome evil, and people should not give up courage and passion nor go through life with any regrets. It really is a great little film, trust me.
