'China Salesman'
(Mike Tyson, Steven Seagal, Dong-Xue Li, Janicke Askevold, et al / Blu-ray / NR / (2017) 2018 / Cleopatra Entertainment - MVD Visual)

Overview: Based on a true story, 'China Salesman' takes us on a dangerous and epic adventure to Africa where a Chinese salesman comes face-to-face with a corrupt competitor over a prized telecom deal.

Local tribesman KABBAH (Mike Tyson) and mercenary LAUDER (Steven Seagal) take up opposite sides in an epic battle while the entire region threatens to explode in a dangerous civil war.

Blu-ray Verdict: OK, I have to say that when this was first announced as a project, I genuinely thought that it was just one big marketing joke! Then I read that it was featuring an all-star cast that included none other than the former World Heavyweight Champion himself, Mike Tyson ('The Hangover', 'Kickboxer: Retaliation') and Steven Seagal ('Exit Wounds', 'Under Siege', 'Hard To Kill') along with Janicke Askevold ('The Smurfs 2') and Eriq Ebouaney ('3 Days to Kill'), and so I settled down a wee bit to take it all in.

Now I've had the pleasure to watch it all unfold in front of me on my small screen, albeit HD TV, I can honestly say that it's nowhere close to being as cheesy, or as stupid, or as bad as I had initially imagined! In fact, it was a pretty decent B-movie action flick, regardless of the egotistical Seagal always trying to hog the camera time.

Tyson fist-fight's his way through scenes like he's going out of fashion, even smashing a thrown-at-him wooden barrel into a million splintered pieces with one punch! Whereas Seagal, looking way more bloated these days than he ever did, chews the scenes he's in whole, his infamous one-liners as fun now as they ever were though, it has to be said.

As for the bit part players here, well, both of the two leading Chinese actors were downright bad actors with seemingly nervous, awkward performances. That said, the chemistry between Tyson and his Chinese mate is superb throughout and even Tyson gets in some fab one-liner's! In conclusion, 'China Salesman' is a fun action B-movie and will have you laughing and ducking punches all day long!
