'Doctor Who - The Complete Eleventh Series'
(Jodie Whittaker, Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole, Mandip Gill, et al / 3-DVD / NR / 2019 / BBC Home Entertainment)

Overview: The brand new series of Doctor Who marks the arrival of Jodie Whittaker, the 13th Doctor – a super-smart force of nature – alongside a new team of friends.

Already highly anticipated, the new-look series heralds a brand-new era for Doctor Who with a world-class team at the helm led by showrunner Chris Chibnall.

DVD Verdict: Chock full of action and adventure, humor and thrills, and various unmissable adventures across all of space and time, this highly-anticipated Eleventh Series is one that succeeds and even excels on many occasions throughout.

And with regard the new Doctor, Jodie Whittaker, I quickly found her to be wonderful, refreshing and appropriate. I have always had trouble accepting the actor when a new Doctor "appears," but Jodie's was simply as smooth a transition as I've seen/felt for many years.

Indeed, I found myself liking her more quickly than any other Doctor I have watched going all the way back to the best of the best, the brilliant Tom Baker.

Ergo, the dazzling Thirteenth Doctor (Whittaker - Broadchurch, Wired) falls out of the sky just in time to thwart an alien huntsman who is stalking human prey.

With little time to spare and the population of Sheffield (and Earth!) at risk, the Doctor recruits three new friends – gentle Ryan, no-nonsense Yasmin and Ryan’s step-grandfather, Graham – who soon feel more like family than companions.

The special effects are mind blowing, but admittedly (and this has nothing to do with Whittaker) the storylines have dropped considerably. While I loved a few episodes, I hate the fact that there is now so much "PC" shoved down our throats.

It takes away the adventure that we're all so used to. Less with the "PC", and more with amazing storylines and writing, please. Thank you.

OK, off my soap box now and the things that came out amongst my friends whilst binge watching this entire Eleventh Series were: Lengthen Jodie's slacks by a good three inches. Please! Stop blabbing that you shouldn't interfere with the timeline and then proceed to do just that in ten seconds!

And, Explain how your wand (sorry, sonic screwdriver) can give readings. Or, at least, catch up and put a decent LED long and thin screen on the side where you can actually read findings! For goodness sake, add something to at least make it makes sense!

All valid points, in truth, but nothing that deters the avid Whovian away from thoroughly enjoying this still-brilliant TV show, that's for sure. So come one, one and all and join the new foursome in ten fresh and enormously thrilling roller-coaster adventures across time and the universe. This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.78:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Special Features of:
