'Martin Lawrence Presents: 1st Amendment, Vol 3'
(Martin Lawrence, et al / 2-Disc DVD / NR / 2009 / Starz - Anchor Bay)

Overview: Join DJ Biz markie and host Doug Williams for the most uncensored, unpredictable and unstoppable comedy showcase on cable. In this all-new season, laugh along with Don 'DC' Curry, Rickey Smiley, Rodney Perry, Bruce Bruce, Deon Cole, Joe Torry, Lavell Crawford, Steve Mazan, Kym Whitley, Rudy Rush, Roz, Memphis Red, B Phlat, Teddy Carpenter, Luenell, Rod Man, Will-E Robo, Raymond Grady, Gary Owen, Shang, Joey Medina, Redd Grant, Meshelle, Darryl Brunson, Carmen Barton, Berry Boyz and many more.

DVD Verdict: 'Martin Lawrence Presents First Amendment Stand-Up: Season 3,' hosted by comedian Doug Williams, features over five hours of stand-up comedy. Filmed in Washington, D.C., at the Lincoln Theatre, forty comics appear in ten shows.

The ’n’ word flies and when the physically large comedians get onstage you just know they’re going to talk about their weight. The comedians, mostly black men, talk about things like Barack Obama, sex, Obama, black women, Obama and beating dogs. The good thing is, if they’re bad, their spot is only a few minutes long.

I can count on one hand the number of comedians on the show who are actually as edgy as the show bills them to be. Don "DC" Curry isn’t one of them. He talks about getting a transplant and taking the "hair off of my ass" and putting it on his head. "Just don’t kiss the top of my head. You’ll be kissing my ass," he adds. The last line is completely unnecessary. If you’re a good comedian it’s implied.

Comedian Bruce Bruce waxes on the differences between white people and black people: "White people apologize when their credit card is declined. Black people look straight at the computer" and talk to Jesus: "’Please, Lord, let that card go through.’" When kids walk in on their parents having sex, white parents explain what they’re doing, while black parents "keep f**king," he quips.

And then there’s AG White. He addresses all of the ladies in the house, in one of the show’s weakest, most flat moments, saying, "Ladies, if you’re over forty you do not have an apple bottom. No, bitch, that’s applesauce." [CA] This is a Widescreen presentation (1.78:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Special Features of:
