Win David Sánchez's New CD 'Cultural Survival'!
On May 13, 2008 Concord Picante will release Cultural Survival;
the 8th album from sax master and 4-time Grammy® Award winner David Sánchez.
Cultural Survival features 8 straight ahead jazz tracks that showcase a new direction
for Sánchez as he debuts a piano-less quartet on all but three of the eight songs
and the inclusion of guitar.
Explaining Cultural Survival’s intriguing title, Puerto Rican born Sánchez says: “It’s
generally about the human condition. It started one day when I was just checking
out the radio to find out what’s going on in the world. You realize you’re
surrounded by a younger generation that seems a little unconscious, living in their
own space, their own reality, and not being very conscientious about the world
around them.”
Sánchez will be touring
throughout the US in support of Cultural
Survival. Beginning May 16, David will kick-
off the tour by playing a double bill with
Danilo Pérez in Chicago and on June 13th will
be performing at the San Francisco Jazz
Festival.
