Rhino Records will be releasing an Old 97’s retrospective, 'Hit By A Train: The Best Of Old 97's', on June 20th.
The 1st-ever retrospective from these pop-savvy roots rock icons spans 1994-2001 including 18 songs from the band's first five studio albums, plus singles, live performances and a soundtrack contribution. Includes indie-era standouts ("Stoned," "Victoria"), the cream of their Elektra catalog ("Timebomb," "Niteclub"), and two live cuts ("Barrier Reef," "Nineteen").
The Old 97's, led by Rhett Miller, have a rich, organic sound that effortlessly fuses roots rock, alt-country, and pure pop. Known for the raw intensity of their live shows and the authentic Americana punch of their recordings, the band formed in Dallas in the early '90s. Their early singles and 1994 indie debut, Hitchhike To Rhome, led to a trio of critically acclaimed and crowd-pleasing albums for Elektra, beginning with 1997's stellar Too Far To Care and running through 2001's Satellite Rides.
So, if you would like to win one of these new CDs, just answer this easy question: On which of Rhett Miller's solo albums did he pay mention to a Four-Eyed Girl?!
