Win Remastered JESUS MARY CHAIN CDs ... NOW!

Scottish brothers William and Jim Reid formed The Jesus And Mary Chain in 1984 and spent the next 15 years creating fuzz-fueled symphonies of cacophony that hum with ragged pop beauty. Before disbanding in 1999, the band helped blaze a trail for the rise of alternative music in the ’90s and influenced a generation with its artful mix of sharp-tongued guitar pop and sprawling drones.

Exploring a vein mined by their heroes The Velvet Underground and The Stooges, Glasgow, Scotland-based alt-rockers The Jesus And Mary Chain were the link between melody and feedback in the '80s and '90s. The band's half-dozen albums, nearly two dozen singles, and riot-inducing live shows were in turn an inspiration to the next generation of sonic subversives, from My Bloody Valentine to The Chemical Brothers to Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

Supercharged and aggressive, 1989’s 'Automatic' spawned the smash modern rock singles "Blues From A Gun" and "Head On" plus the favorites "Halfway To Crazy" and "Gimme Hell." On this new Dual Disc version you have the DVD side, which features all the songs in high resolution stereo, plus videos for "Blues From A Gun," "Her Way Of Praying," and "Head On."

Calmer but just as powerful, 1994’s 'Stoned & Dethroned' was their last for Blanco y Negro and they went out with the high notes of "God Help Me" featuring guest vocalist Shane MacGowan and "Sometimes Always" spotlighting Mazzy Star front woman Hope Sandoval’s ambient vocals. Plus the stand-outs "Come On" and "Never Saw It Coming." The DVD side features all the songs in high resolution stereo plus bonus videos for "Sometimes Always," "Come On," and "Snakedriver."

So, if you would like to win one of these new CDs, and you think you're a hardened Jesus Mary Chain fan, just answer this easy question: The violence that followed the band's every action culminated in an event that is now a part of indie folklore. On March 15, 1985, the Mary Chain played a gig at the North London Polytechnic in front of one of their largest crowds up to that point. The support band had stirred up violence before the Mary Chain even set foot onto the stage by throwing back into the audience a bottle thrown at them. What was the name of that support band?!

Send us your answers and if you're correct you'll be in the running to win one of these wonderful new CDs! Just send us an e:mail here before August 15th with your answer and the subject title 'JESUS MARY CHAIN CDs' to: exclusivemagazine@flash.net
