'Pink Floyd Syd dead at 60'
LEGENDARY Pink Floyd founder Syd Barrett has died of pancreatic cancer aged 60, it was revealed yesterday. He was the band’s genius songwriter and lead singer but went mad after having a drug-induced breakdown. Barrett lived as a recluse for more than 30 years in a scruffy Cambridge semi.It was a far cry from the lavish lifestyles enjoyed by former bandmates Roger Waters, Nick Mason, Rick Wright and his own successor David Gilmour. Waters immortalised Barrett in the song 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond.'
