'Bridget Jones' actress RENEE ZELLWEGER is to star as tragic Sixties rock icon JANIS JOPLIN in a new biopic. Producer Tom Rosenberg said: “Renee has been obsessed with Janis for years and is totally committed to this role.” Janis, famous for her raunchy lifestyle, died in 1970 of a heroin overdose in a Hollywood hotel aged just 27. Filming is due to start next year.
