'All The Tools of The Trade: The Mila Brener Story'

Mila Brener (6) is following in her actress mother’s, Shirly Brener (Righteous Kill, Hit List), footsteps by landing a lead role in the sequel to the original cult horror film, 'Tool Box Murders 2'.

Mila will play an ethereal girl ghost that helps tortured girls get away from the killer and to freedom. Bruce Dern, Brian Krause (Cougar Town) and Lance Henriksen also star in the film directed by Dean Jones (Pirates of the Carribean), an award winning key make-up special effects artist that makes his directorial debut.

Exclusive Magazine recently sat down with Mila Brener and we chatted about her debut movie role, her fashion sense, and, of course, ... penguins!

Taking it from the top and even at the age of 6 you have been a very successful model. Having starred in campaigns for Wal-Mart, JC Penny, Disney, etc. which has been the most fun so far - and why? "I like all my jobs, but I also like going to school and playing with my friends. It's fun being the model for Joe’s Jeans because I like trying all their clothes and because the jeans are beautiful. I also liked doing the WalMart TV commercial because I had to dance in it - and I love dancing. I dance Hip Hop, Jazz and Ballet. In the commercial I got to freestyle."

And, when it comes to being stylish, as a model, whose clothes do you most like to wear in your personal time - Wal-Mart, JC Penny, Saurette, etc? "I love dresses, that’s why I love Saurette, because Lisa makes beautiful dresses for little girls. My mom says she wishes they were made in her size too!"

Indeed, you have now taken a step away from modeling to undertake your very first movie role. Following in your mothers footsteps, you have landed a role in the horror film, 'Tool Box Murders 2.' A scary role, being a horror, but do you scare easily? "I'm very happy to be in a real movie - in 'Tool Box Murders 2.' I don’t really get too scared from movies, but I'm scared of real spiders. And one time I screamed really hard and ran to my mommy and daddy’s bedroom when I thought there was a rat in my room!"

What character do you play in 'Tool Box Murders 2' and how long will you have to shoot the film for? "I play Lucie, a ghost. I guess she is already dead. She stares and hardly ever talks, and I had to hop scotch. I don’t know how long, you need to ask my Mommy, but I think it was a couple of weeks and many hours."

Being that this sequel picks up directly after the events of the 2004 original movie, did you watch that movie to prepare for this role, perhaps? "No I didn’t watch it. My mom showed me some clips on the computer, but then they said it was too scary for me to watch. The way I prepared is my mom coached me and I listened to the director, Dean Jones and did what he told me to do. I had to be very serious and not smile and be very still."

Have you been offered other roles before this one that you (and your mother) have decided to turn down, perhaps? "No, I just turned 6 so I just started acting. But I did one movie with my mom when I was 4 called 'Hug It Forward' and it won 3rd place in the People’s Choice Awards."

Now you have this movie role, have you got the acting bug and want to do another one soon - indeed, IS there another movie in your near future? "I want to be a singer and dancer like Lady Gaga or Fergie, but I want to act as well. I've been with my Mom all over the world, and the country on her movies. I like it. I take comedy classes now in an improv school for kids called LOL."

"I almost got a role on Glee this week, but I think they ended up taking an older girl than me. I'm sure I'll be in another movie soon. I also have a manager now – Derek Thornsberry - and he's trying to get me more movies."

Lastly, Exclusive Magazine love penguins ... do you, perhaps? "OMG! Penguins? YES I love penguins. I wish I can have one in my house. I wish they could fly and I could ride them!"
